Belle Phromchanya (b.1984, Bangkok, Thailand) is an artist, filmmaker, and cultural worker based in Rotterdam. Since earning her MA in Design from the Sandberg Instituut in 2013, she has developed an interdisciplinary practice that explores themes such as political memeification, diasporic identities, and digital legacies. Phromchanya's artistic investigations stem from her own situated experiences navigating the tensions between local and global, self and other. By incorporating archival materials, personal narratives, and audiovisual elements, her work seeks to unpack and renarrate contemporary realities through the lens of transborder positionality.
Alongside her artistic practice, Phromchanya is currently a tutor at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and co-founder of NON NATIVE NATIVE, an independent platform that extends international, non-Western discourses within the cultural landscape by collaborating across diverse disciplines to celebrate the art of reclaiming the unclaimed.
