Portals into the heart of the Earth reveal bottomless cauldrons, burned by ancient wrath and bubbling thousands of miles beneath the surface. Any change at the surface could signal a potential eruption that might trigger climate chaos. Lands with No Volcanoes is a collaboration between NON NATIVE NATIVE and Thai artists based in the Netherlands: Belle Phromchanya, Anon Chaisansook, and Sankrit Kulmanochawong.

The audio-visual installation narrates through the re-appropriation of found digital materials, including nature documentaries, tourism advertisements, and local news footage, augmented by 3D-rendered imagery, highlighting the current socio-political tensions beneath the tranquil facade of the two regions. The work was produced in the context of the Majhi International Art Residency 2021 in Eindhoven. The program facilitates cross-cultural encounters between artists, scholars, and thinkers, aiming to support and promote art and research from South Asia and the Global South within a critical, international framework and bridge artistic practices between East and West.

Majhi Art Residency 2021 hosted by Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation, the residency took place at Steentjeskerk Church during Dutch Design Week. Curated by Kehkasha Sabah, the exhibition Land, Water & Border explored individual and collective experiences of the role played by land, border, politics, culture, heritage, nature and technology.
